APRIL 15 IS JUST AROUND THE CORNER:
ARE TAXPAYERS READY?
~ Important reminders
and advice from the National Society of Accountants
~
April 2008
Alexandria, VA - Tuesday,
April 1, 2008 - Many American taxpayers dread April
15, because it means that taxes for the previous year
are finally due. They also have to spend several hours
calculating their taxes or hire a professional to do
it for them.
The National Society of Accountants
(NSA) represents the "Main Street" accountants who prepare
tax returns for clients and offer many other accounting
services. This includes more than 30,000 independent
practitioners who provide accounting, tax, auditing,
financial and estate planning, and management services
to 19 million individuals and businesses. They've seen
it all when it comes to taxes, and they keep up with
the latest changes in tax laws.
Since the tax code is more
complicated this year, it's more important than ever
that filers have the latest information for filing.
The stimulus payment is also related to filing our taxes,
so having information about this is key. John Ams is
the executive vice president of NSA, and he provides
some advice for the last-minute tax filers.
ost NSA members are sole practitioners
or partners in small- to medium-size accounting firms.
NSA protects its members' right to practice and protects
the public by requiring its members to adhere to a strict
Code of Ethics. For more information, visit www.nsacct.org.
