The Best Adoption-Friendly
Workplaces in America is the list that prompted policy
change. After the Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption
announced the list for the first time in 2007 with rankings
based on financial reimbursement and paid leave for
adoption, more than 50 organizations nationwide established
or enhanced adoption benefits for employees. Today,
the Foundation is announcing the 2008 winners.
Rita Soronen, executive director
of the Foundation, says competition is one of several
reasons employers offer adoption benefits.
(SORONEN)
WE'RE PLEASED THAT COMPANIES
ESTABLISHED OR ENHANCED THEIR ADOPTION BENEFITS AS A
RESULT OF LAST YEAR'S LIST. IT SUBSTANTIATES WHAT EMPLOYERS
HAVE BEEN TELLING US ABOUT THE VALUE OF ADOPTION BENEFITS.
OFFERING THEM HELPS COMPANIES GAIN A COMPETITIVE EDGE
IN RECRUITMENT AND RETENTION, REINFORCES THEIR FAMILY-FRIENDLY
VALUES, AND PROVIDES EQUITY FOR EMPLOYEES BUILDING FAMILIES
THROUGH ADOPTION. IT'S ALSO SIMPLY THE RIGHT THING TO
DO.
