(INTRO)
The gowns … the glitter …
the gams ... Ballroom dancing has never been more popular
with more than four million athletes taking part in
International Dance Sport Federation competitions on
five continents. True ballroom competition sweeps back
onto small screen when America's Ballroom Challenge
premieres Wednesday, January 30 at 8:00 p.m. on PBS
(check local listings). During five weeks of all-new
competition, twenty-four world-class couples will battle
it out for the title of "America's Best."
Host Jasmine Guy, stage and
screen actress, describes the comprehensive coverage
of this spectacular event.

I'M THRILLED TO BE HOSTING
THE SHOW BECAUSE DANCE IS MY FIRST DISCIPLINE, AND BECAUSE
OF MY AWE AND RESPECT FOR THE PERFORMERS. I'M SO AMAZED
WITH THE MAGNITUDE OF THE EVENT. BEYOND THE COMPETITION,
WE GO BEHIND-THE-SCENES TO CAPTURE ALL OF THE GLAMOUR
OF BALLROOM-FROM THE ART OF COSTUME DESIGN TO JUDGING
SECRETS. THIS IS SERIOUS BALLROOM AT ITS BEST.
