As the summer heat wave roars
on, Americans are approaching the upcoming back-to-school
shopping season with cool heads. A new survey finds
only one-in-five shoppers feels stressed about back-to-school
shopping, with nearly 40 percent reporting "no stress
at all."
Tom O'Donnell, general manager,
Chase Card Services, says their 2011 Back-to-School
Shopping Survey finds a clear connection between having
a plan and feeling in control.

THE BACK-TO-SCHOOL SEASON
IS A MAJOR SHOPPING PERIOD, AND FOR THE SECOND YEAR
IN A ROW, WE'RE SEEING AMERICANS MAINTAIN A BUDGET CONSCIOUS
APPROACH IN RESPONSE TO ONGOING ECONOMIC CHALLENGES.
THERE ARE SEVERAL WAYS SHOPPERS PLAN TO GET THE MOST
FROM THEIR BACK-TO-SCHOOL SPENDING: LIKE REUSING SCHOOL
SUPPLIES, CLIPPING COUPONS, AND SHOPPING AT DISCOUNT
STORES. THE GOOD NEWS IS THAT CONSUMERS ARE TAKING PROACTIVE
STEPS TO HAVE A PLAN, SPEND WISELY AND STAY ON TOP OF
THEIR FINANCES.
