Serious health problems facing
Latinos in the United States and in Latin America include
overweight and obesity, plus obesity-related illnesses
like diabetes. In fact, U.S. Hispanics are almost twice
as likely as non-Hispanic white individuals to suffer
from diabetes. One approach to reducing the prevalence
of these conditions might be to encourage traditional
dietary practices and incorporate healthy ingredients
into one's daily diet. Salsa is one such "super-food"
that boasts several health benefits, according to Herdez
Salsa and the Latino Nutrition Coalition.
Nicki Heverling with the Latino
Nutrition Coalition explains.
