(INTRO)
Are you doing everything you
can to safely prepare food for you and your family?
Maybe not, according to a new survey out today from
the International Food Information Council Foundation.
More than four out of five Americans reported in the
annual Food and Health Survey they're confident in their
ability to safely prepare foods.
Danielle Schor, registered
dietitian and senior vice president of Food Safety for
the IFIC Foundation, says the survey finds some basic
food safety procedures aren't being practiced that often
in American kitchens.
(SCHOR)
LESS THAN HALF OF AMERICANS
SAY THEY REGULARLY USE DIFFERENT CUTTING BOARDS FOR
THINGS LIKE RAW MEAT AND READY-TO-EAT FOODS LIKE PRODUCE.
AND, LESS THAN ONE-THIRD OF THOSE WE SURVEYED BOTHER
TO USE A MEAT THERMOMETER TO CHECK FOR DONENESS. SAFE
FOOD PREPARATION TAKES JUST A FEW EASY STEPS, YOUR FAMILY'S
HEALTH IS WELL WORTH THE EFFORT.
