"Employees must wash their
hands" is a sign we have seen in restaurant bathrooms,
but do we need signs in office restrooms? We might.
According to a survey of American office workers by
SCA, one of the world's largest hygiene products companies,
68 percent say they have seen their co-workers not wash
their hands after using the restroom.
Amy Bellcourt, vice president
for the company, says the survey was conducted in coordination
with Global Handwashing Day on October 15.

PEOPLE OFFER A VARIETY OF
REASONS FOR NOT WASHING THEIR HANDS: TWO-THIRDS SAID
"MY HANDS AREN'T REALLY DIRTY;" EIGHT PERCENT SAID "THEY
DID NOT HAVE TIME;" AND FOUR PERCENT SAID "THERE WAS
NO SOAP OR TOWELS." THREE PERCENT SAID IT WAS BECAUSE
"NOBODY WAS WATCHING." WHILE MOST OFFICE WORKERS ARE
TOO EMBARRASSED TO CONFRONT A CO-WORKER, ONE-THIRD SAY
THEY HAVE BECAUSE THEY FOUND IT JUST PLAIN DISGUSTING.
