With more than one million
Americans living with HIV/AIDS and more than 56,000
new cases every year, finding a safe and effective HIV
vaccine remains a critical priority in the U.S. While
more work has to be done, recent progress in HIV prevention
research has given new hope. This exciting progress
is only possible with the help of communities and generous
volunteers who support and participate in research.

MORE THAN HALF A MILLION
PEOPLE HAVE DIED OF AIDS IN THE U.S. SINCE THE DISEASE
WAS FIRST REPORTED 30 YEARS AGO. WE NEED PREVENTION
AND TREATMENT TODAY TO CONTROL THE EPIDEMIC, AND WE
NEED TO DEVELOP A VACCINE TO END IT. THIS MAY EIGHTEENTH
WE HONOR THE THOUSANDS OF VOLUNTEERS WHO MAKE HIV VACCINE
RESEARCH POSSIBLE. STUDIES ARE UNDERWAY IN WASHINGTON,
DC TO FIND A VACCINE THAT COULD HELP END THE EPIDEMIC.
