TIPS FOR USING TECH TO ENJOY THE HOLIDAYS

~ Holiday Help from Busy Celebrity Mom Alison Sweeney ~

November 2011

(Redmond, WA) - More than half of all Americans say the thing they look forward to the most about the holidays is spending time with family and friends. But with all of the hectic details of travel, party planning and shopping that come with this time of year, it can feel like an extra full-time job! This holiday season many families are turning to technology to make it easier to connect with their loved ones in meaningful, low-stress ways.

Alison Sweeney, host of TV's "The Biggest Loser," author of "The Mommy Diet," award-winning "Days of Our Lives" actor, and busy mom, shares how she manages to juggle it all and keep connected, whether during the busy holiday season or beyond. Here are some of her suggestions:

  • Make Technology Work for You - Stay on top of holiday to-do lists, keep the kids happy in long holiday lines and survive inevitable airport delays - using a smartphone can be a holiday lifesaver. The local scout function on the Windows Phone can help you find local places to eat, drink, shop or enjoy holiday activities no matter what city you're in for the holidays.

  • Stay Connected - Use the holiday season as a time to do things together - attend a local holiday program, hit the slopes, or grab an early morning coffee at your favorite coffee shop. Or stay in and create your own fun with an Xbox/Kinect game that everyone can enjoy. Just be together.

  • Master Multitasking - Manage your holiday budget, slip in some online shopping and create picture-perfect family photos with a Windows PC. With these on-the-go multi-tasking machines, you might even give Santa a run for his money.

Regardless of your holiday plans, technology can keep you connected to the people you love most, creating meaningful memories that will last a lifetime.
