Coastal Litter Prevention
June 2011
Stations, the following is
a news announcement. Suggested lead in 3, 2, 1…
(INTRO)
Millions of pounds of trash
in waterways spoil visits for summer vacationers every
year and also choke and entangle wildlife. In fact,
Ocean Conservancy's annual beach cleanup for the last
25 years has collected enough cups, plates, forks, knives
and spoons to host a picnic for two million people.
Leo Viana, deputy director
of Ocean Conservancy's Trash Free Seas Program, says
the Fourth of July holiday is an opportunity to step
up our efforts to protect the ocean.
