Maryland Prepaid College Trust Enrollment Period

The Maryland Prepaid College Trust, one of two "529 Plans" offered by the College Savings Plans of Maryland, gives families an opportunity to lock in tomorrow's tuition at today's prices. This year's enrollment period runs through April 4th. Enrollment in Maryland's other "529 Plan," the Maryland College Investment Plan, is open year-round.

Joan Marshall, executive director of the College Savings Plans of Maryland, outlines the reasons to enroll.

MARYLAND OFFERS TWO FLEXIBLE COLLEGE SAVINGS PLANS FOR FAMILIES LOOKING TO HELP THEIR CHILDREN AND GRANDCHILDREN AFFORD COLLEGE. BY GETTING A JUMPSTART ON THE FUTURE, THE PLANS HELP FAMILIES TO PREPARE NOW FOR THE EXPENSE OF A COLLEGE EDUCATION AND REDUCE FUTURE RELIANCE ON LOANS WITH EASY-TO-USE TAX-ADVANTAGED SAVINGS OPTIONS. FAMILIES WHO OPEN AND FUND AN ACCOUNT BY DECEMBER 31ST QUALIFY FOR A GENEROUS 2007 MARYLAND STATE INCOME DEDUCTION.
