Stations, the following is

(INTRO)
The tragedy 9/11 created a
moment of unity among college students, but that soon
gave way to the debate over the conflict in the Middle
East. The documentary special Campus Battleground, part
of the PBS Series America at a Crossroads, focuses on
the University of California-Berkeley and Columbia University
in New York.
Itamar Haritan, freshman at
UC-Berkeley, on one of the pro-Palestine protests.
(HARITAN)
THERE IS A MAP OF THE ENTIRE
AREA UNDER DISPUTE, ALL COLORED OVER WITH THE PALESTINIAN
MAP. WHAT ARE THEY SAYING, THAT IT'S ALL THEIRS? I THINK
THAT THAT'S A MESSAGE OF INTOLERANCE.
Salfadean Ammous, graduate
student at Columbia, describes an event featuring the
controversial speaker Norman Finkelstein.
(AMMOUS)
THE FINKELSTEIN EVENT WAS
ONE OF OUR FIRST EVENTS. WE THOUGHT IT WAS A GOOD WAY
TO START TO BRING A VOICE ON CAMPUS THAT MENTIONS THE
OPPRESSION OF PALESTINIANS AND TALKS ABOUT THE CONFLICT.
(CLOSE)
The documentary airs nationally
on PBS on Monday, November 26 at 10:00 p.m. (Check local
listings).
