MSN SURVEY FINDS PEOPLE MAD FOR MARCH MADNESS

~ One-Third of All Respondents Say They Will Spend More Time in March Watching Basketball than Spending Time with Family or Friends ~

(Redmond, WA) -- A recent MSN survey finds that people are mad for March Madness, with only two percent of respondents reporting they have no interest in following the 2011 NCAA Men's and Women's basketball tournaments. In fact, more than one-third of all respondents say they will spend more time in March watching basketball than spending time with family or friends!

More findings from the survey include:

  • More than half of respondents plan on entering multiple March Madness betting pools, but more women than men report they typically enter at least four betting pools. Women are also twice as likely as men to fill out four or more brackets - 17 percent versus 9 percent.

  • People are looking to wager on the tournament, as 85% of those surveyed say news of an improving economy will lead them to gamble at least as much money as last year, if not more this March.

  • " One quarter of respondents plan to bet at least $25; nearly ten percent of respondents plan to bet more than $100.

  • Ashley Judd is the most requested celebrity companion for March Madness fans. 41 percent of female respondents said they'd prefer to share courtside seats with Ashley Judd; only 9 percent preferred Kim Kardashian

  • Office productivity may take a dip during the first few days of the tournament, as 81 percent of respondents plan to follow the game, check related scores and statistics and updates during office hours. In fact, 30 percent of respondents plan to spend three or more hours during work following their favorite teams.
