Preventing type 2 Diabetes
August 2008
Stations, the following is
a news announcement. Suggested lead in 3, 2, 1…
(INTRO)
Fifty-seven million Americans
have pre-diabetes, a condition that increases the risk
for developing type 2 diabetes. Having a family history
of diabetes can increase your risk for developing the
disease. But research shows that losing a small amount
of weight can reduce your risk by more than half - and
being more physically active can help.
The National Diabetes Education
Program has teamed with Kevin Young, 1992 Olympic Gold
Medalist, to let you know that you can prevent or delay
type 2 diabetes.
(YOUNG)
YOU DON'T HAVE TO BE AN OLYMPIC
GOLD MEDALIST TO PREVENT TYPE 2 DIABETES. YOU JUST HAVE
TO LOSE A SMALL AMOUNT OF WEIGHT BY BEING ACTIVE 30
MINUTES MOST DAYS OF THE WEEK. TAKE A WALK WITH YOUR
FAMILY OR JOIN A COMMUNITY EXERCISE PROGRAM. AND REMEMBER,
SMALL STEPS MAKE A BIG DIFFERENCE IN PREVENTING TYPE
2 DIABETES.
