(INTRO)
Fifty thousand women are enrolling
in the Sister Study, a national research study investigating
how environment and genes affect the chances of getting
breast cancer. During National Women's Health Week,
May 11 to 17, the study is reminding diverse women to
sign up to help learn more about women's health.
Dr. Paula Juras, project
officer with the Sister Study, says participation will
help researchers learn the causes of breast cancer and
how we can prevent it.
(JURAS)
WOMEN CAN PASS DOWN A GREAT
GIFT TO FUTURE GENERATIONS BY PARTICIPATING IN STUDIES
THAT WILL GIVE A BETTER UNDERSTANDING OF WOMEN'S HEALTH.
THE SISTER STUDY IS AN OBSERVATIONAL STUDY OF WOMEN
WHOSE SISTERS HAD BREAST CANCER, AND RIGHT NOW WE NEED
MORE WOMEN OF COLOR, AGES 35 TO 74, AND CAUCASIAN WOMEN
BETWEEN AGES 65 AND 74, OR WHO HAVE A HIGH SCHOOL DIPLOMA
OR LESS.
