In fact, every 17 seconds one person is diagnosed with the disease and if current trends continue, one in three American adults will have diabetes by 2050.

The American Diabetes Association estimates the total national cost of diagnosed diabetes in the United States is $174 billion, with one out of every five health care dollars spent on a person living with diabetes.
