a news announcement. Suggested lead in 3, 2, 1…
(INTRO)
The delivery company with
the largest private alternative-fuel fleet in the transportation
industry has just announced that it has ordered 200
hybrid electric vehicles (HEV) - the largest commercial
order of hybrid delivery trucks ever - in addition to
another 300 Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) vehicles for
its U.S. delivery fleet.
UPS spokesman Michael French
says deploying eco-friendly delivery vehicles is one
more step towards even greener package delivery.

ALTERNATIVE FUEL RESEARCH
AND DEVELOPMENT IS JUST ONE OF THE WAYS WE ARE MITIGATING
CLIMATE CHANGE RISKS. IT'S VERY IMPORTANT TO US TO DEMONSTRATE
OUR COMMITMENT WITH ACTION, WHICH IS WHY WE HAVE THE
LARGEST PRIVATE 'GREEN' FLEET IN THE INDUSTRY. AND BOTH
COMPRESSED NATURAL GAS AND HYBRID ELECTRIC VEHICLES
PROVIDE SUBSTANTIAL REDUCTIONS IN CARBON EMISSIONS,
WHICH REDUCES OUR ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT.
(CLOSE)
The purchase means the largest
private alternative fuel fleet in the country will grow
30 percent from 1,629 to 2,129 low-carbon vehicles.
