Next Generation of
Windows Live Lets Consumers Communicate and Share in
New Ways
November 2007
REDMOND, WA - November 7,
2007 - Microsoft has launched the next generation of
Windows Live, providing consumers worldwide with a compelling
new set of tools and services that help make it easier
than ever to communicate and share with the important
people in their lives safely, from anywhere across multiple
devices.
A free and fun upgrade for
the Windows and online experience, Windows Live was
launched at www.windowslive.com
and at events in New York and Los Angeles. To celebrate
the launch, Microsoft is partnering with Operation Smile
to encourage people to share smiles through Windows
Live in order to help Operation Smile make a difference
in the lives of children around the world.
Today's Internet savvy consumers
are relying more and more on the web to communicate
and share with their friends and family, but they're
also becoming increasingly frustrated with how difficult
it is to keep track of all their email accounts, photos,
address books and other online information. In fact,
visiting multiple websites to access the online information
they need frustrates more than 61 percent of online
consumers, according to a Harris Interactive study commissioned
by Microsoft. And more than two out of three consumers
agree that they're ready for an all-in-one resource
for organizing and managing everything they do online.
Windows Live is designed to
enhance the Windows and online experience with a set
of online tools that bring the power of the web right
to the PC or mobile device, letting consumers communicate
and share with the people they care about. The Windows
Live suite is comprised of several free PC applications
connected to services delivered over the Internet.
